This classification system informs how we handle, process, and finish your parts—ensuring your expectations are met from the shop floor to final delivery.
Class A
Architectural features with no surface scratches or visible imperfections when viewed casually. Material is often stainless steel with #4 finish or any sheet protected with laser vinyl. The vinyl must remain intact. Both sides may need to be scratch-free. Note: hot rolled steel cannot be guaranteed blemish-free due to normal supply chain handling.
Class B
Parts that will be polished or plated for visible cosmetic use. Minor surface scratches or scuffs that will be hidden after finishing are acceptable, as long as a fingernail does not catch on them.
Class C
Parts that will be powder coated or require uniform surface appearance after plating or DA orbital sanding. Light scratches or scuffs that will be removed or hidden during finishing are acceptable.
Class D
Structural or machine components where appearance does not matter. Surface flaws like forklift marks are acceptable as long as structural integrity remains intact.
Note: If forming tool or die marks are not acceptable, and die rubber must be used during forming, this must be clearly stated on the customer PO.
